Spring has sprung and that means it’s time for warm weather and yummy cocktails. Most of us are missing drinks on patios and rooftop bars, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy Spring all the same. Here are 3 delicious spring cocktails you can make right at home.
1) Strawberry Basil Smash
Nothing says summer quite like the herbaceous blend of strawberry and basil in this tasty cocktail from Better Homes & Gardens.
Ingredients
For one serving of this cocktail you will need:
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 oz strawberries (hulled)
- 2.5 tablespoons lemon juice
- Several fresh basil leaves
- 1-2 oz of vodka, tequila, gin, or light rum
- Sparkling water (chilled)
- Extra sliced strawberries and basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, combine ⅔ of a cup of still water with your sugar. Stir until dissolved. Add your strawberries, lemon juice, and basil. Combine for about 2 minutes or until smooth (you can use a cocktail muddler to help).
- Strain and discard solids. Skim off any foam and discard.
- In a cocktail glass, add your strawberry mixture and 1-2 oz of the desired alcohol. Top with a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with sliced strawberries and basil leaves.
2) Orange Hibiscus Mai Tai
This delightful citrusy drink from Half Baked Harvest is perfect for a warm spring day and even a hot summer night.
Ingredients
For one serving of this cocktail you will need:
- 1 tablespoon dried hibiscus (or one hibiscus tea bag)
- 1-2 tablespoons of honey
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 freshly squeezed lime
- 2 oz light rum
- 1 oz dark rum
- Salt for the rim (optional)
Instructions
- Bring 1/2 cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add hibiscus flower or teabag and honey. Let steep for up to 10 minutes.
- Strain and discard the flower or tea bag and let chill.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass and coat with salt (optional). Add your chilled tea, orange juice, pineapple juice and run to a glass. Add ice and stir.
3) Spring Buzz

Ingredients
For one serving of this cocktail you will need:
- 1 bag chamomile tea
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 oz whiskey
- ¼ oz St. Germain
- Lemon juice
- Edible flowers and lemon wedges for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, bring 2/3 of a cup of water to a boil. Steep your tea bag for 2-5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and add honey. Allow cooling completely.
- In a cocktail glass, add ice, 1 oz whiskey, 1/4 oz St. Germain and your tea. Finish with a squeeze of lemon and top with garnish if desired.
