Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not make it both delicious and healthy? Smoothies are fast, easy, and can be packed with fruits and veggies that are good for your body. Here are 3 smoothie recipes that are both tasty and healthy. 


1) Strawberry Banana Green Goddess

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup spinach 
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • 1/2-1 cup milk of choice (or freshly squeezed juice)

This smoothie is packed with nutrients and vitamins. Strawberries will give you a punch of vitamin C and a little sweetness while still being low on natural sugars. The banana will help it be creamy and also give you a dose of fibre and potassium. Get some greens in with spinach, one of the healthiest greens on the planet. Spirulina is packed with nutrients and antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.


2) Chocolate Nut Butter Protein Punch

  • 2 tbsp nut butter of choice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 
  • 1/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/2-1 cup milk of choice
  • Chia seeds or crushed almonds (optional)

This protein-rich smoothie keep you going until lunchtime. Nut butter, protein powder, and greek yogurt will give you the protein you need while the banana gives you a boost of energy and a dose of potassium and fibre. Add chia seeds  or crushed almonds for extra Omega-3 and fibre.


3) Tropical Pineapple Splash

  • 1/2 cup pineapple
  • 1/2 cup peaches
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric 
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/2-1 cup fresh-squeezed orange juice

Get a good serving of fruits and a strong dose of vitamin C from your pineapple, peaches, and orange juice. The banana will give you fibre and potassium while turmeric acts as an anti-inflammatory and ginger gives you a boost to the immune system and aids in digestion. 

Instructions
Add ingredients to your blender, make sure you have enough liquid to easily blend. Add ice if you like it cold or freeze your berries and bananas ahead of time. Spinach, kale, or unflavoured protein powder can be added to any smoothie for an added boost. If your smoothie needs to be a little sweeter try adding a little maple syrup or honey.
